
South Africa's Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom left Egypt back home, wrapping up a three-day visit to Egypt.
During his visit, Hanekom met with a number of senior Egyptian officials, topped by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazoua.
In a statement on Friday, the Tourism Ministry said the visit would boost tourism in Egypt through putting into effect the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with regard to exchanging expertise as well as holding joint tourist events.
The South African minister went on a tour of the Giza Pyramids, the Cairo Citadel, the Egyptian Museum in addition to the Islamic Cairo districts of Khan el Khalili and the historic Al Moez street, the statement added.
The minister voiced happiness over visiting Egypt "The Country of Culture and History", expressing confidence that Egypt would restore its tourism position, the statement concluded
