Spanish Maritime Rescue services informed on Monday that they had saved 40 sub-Saharan immigrants who were attempting to make the dangerous crossing from the north coast of Morocco to Spain in a dingy.
The immigrants were rescued from their inflatable boat 30 miles of the south coast of the Province of Granada after setting off from close to Tensaman in Morocco to attempt their crossing in the early hours of the morning.
The 40 people rescued were treated by the Red Cross on their arrival at Motril, but only three needed hospital treatment for a combination of symptoms of hypothermia and slight injuries.
