
Sudan will ask the UN Security Council not to extend the mandate of UNAMID mission in Darfur for another year, Sudanese State Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Ismail said on Friday.
In a press statement, Ismail said it is the time for the UNAMID forces to leave Darfur.
However, Ismail did not rule out the possibility of extending the UNAMID mandate for another year in June.
Negotiations are underway among the Sudanese government, the UN and the African Union to ensure a smooth exit of the UNAMID mission from Sudan, he noted
