Moscow calls on Turkey to provide evidence that Russia is supplying the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) with weapons, Sputnik International quoted the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov as saying on Monday.
Earlier on Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Russia is allegedly supplying the PKK, outlawed in Turkey, with anti-aircraft weaponry and rockets through Syria and Iraq.
Tensions between Ankara and the Kurds escalated in July 2015 as fighting between the PKK, the Kurdish pro-independence organization considered to be terrorist by Ankara, and the Turkish army resumed.
Ankara has imposed several round-the-clock curfews in Kurdish-populated towns, preventing civilians from fleeing the regions, where the military operations are taking place.
