
The United States welcomed on Friday the start of the Yemeni talks in Kuwait, confirming its support for efforts of the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
A spokesman for the US Department of State, John Kirby said these talks have "a vital importance for Yemenis".
"All parties should participate in the talks in good faith and to fully, so as to end military operations and begin a peaceful political process," Kirby added.
He expressed his country's desire that the talks be able to build on the steps that have been reached in the previous round of talks, which was held last December in Geneva.
The spokesman also voiced his country's concern about the impact of hostilities on civilians in Yemen.
