Allawi's initiative can be platform for political consensus in Iraq

The Arab League announced Monday receiving a letter enclosed with an initiative to evade the current crisis in Iraq from head of Iraq National Accord Ayad Allawi.
The League, in a statement, said the initiative's ideas and proposals could be a "platform" towards achieving political consensus among all Iraqi parties.
In this regard, the League's Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby recalled a meeting of all Iraqi political powers in mid-June, which called for engaging in a "serious and inclusive" dialogue that aimed to forming a national unity government able to confront threats jeopardizing Iraq's stability and sovereignty.
Allawi's initiative calls for adopting a roadmap that includes forming a national unity government and achieving conciliation among all Iraqi sects.
Other items of the initiative include issuing legislations for social security in Iraq; in addition to an item stipulating the unity government must resign within three years in order to clear the path for an interim government and hold free elections.
Allawi, a former interim prime minister, urged in his initiative all parties to disarm and immediately engage in dialogue so as to clamp down on terrorists and separatists and thwart their schemes.
