Egypt's Permanent Delegate to the Arab League (AL) Tareq el Qony asserted on Thursday that the occupied Golan Heights are part and parcel of the Syrian territories that were occupied by Israel in the June 1967 war.
Addressing the opening session of the Arab League (AL) emergency meeting at the level of permanent delegates, Qony stressed that Egypt will continue to support Syria until it regains the Golan Heights.
The Israeli occupation of Golan Heights poses a threat to the security and stability of the whole region, he underlined.
Qony urged the international community to force Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights and the other occupied Arab territories.
The meeting, held under Bahrain's permanent representative to the AL Rashed bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa, kicked off earlier in the day as it will probe the possibility of taking a unified Arab stance against the escalating Israeli steps and comments of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he vowed to keep the occupied Syrian Golan Heights in Israel's hands forever.
The AL meeting comes at the request of Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
