Sudanese Foreign Ministry
Khartoum - Arab Today

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry on Monday said it has received assurances from the Libyan government to resolve the problem of as many as 1,200 Sudanese who are stranded at Massaed crossing in Libya's Tobruk.

Sudan's "Al-Rai Al-Am" newspaper quoted Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Qareb Allah Khedr as saying that the Sudanese consul general in Tobruk received affirmation from the Libyan parliament speaker that he will allow stranded Sudanese to cross Massaed checkpoint with their cars.

Khedr made it clear that the Libyan government has recently banned any private vehicles via the crossing, but the Sudanese nationals were present at the crossing before its issuance.

The Sudanese consul has contacted the stranded nationals and informed them that the problem would finally be settled within the coming two days.
