The Palestinian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to stop adopting a double-standard policy against Israel and to impose real sanctions to force it to end settlement activities.
In a statement, the ministry urged the Security Council to shoulder its responsibility towards this major crime that is being carried out on Palestinian territories.
It warned that ongoing settlement construction blocks international security and stability and undermines the two-state solution.
It denounced international silence against grave Israeli violations of the international law and Geneva conventions.
The statement came after the Israeli Planning and Construction Committee approved on Sunday a plan to construct about 4,200 housing units in the settlement of Modi’in, west of Ramallah in the West Bank.
