
The French foreign minister said his visit to Cairo is also aimed at discussing the developments in the Palestinian-Israeli crisis, especially in light of continued violence and settlement activities.
The international community shall exert more efforts to help both parties resume a stalled dialogue on peace, Ayrault said, highlighting the importance of Egypt's role within this context.
The French top diplomat also thanked Egypt for its support to a French initiative to hold an international peace conference to help achieve the two-state solution.
On Libya, he said France and Egypt are committed to back the political process in the war-torn country.
For his part, the Egyptian foreign minister highlighted that talks with his French counterpart centered on preparations for the upcoming visit of the French president to Egypt.
The visit was high on the agenda of the meeting with President Sisi earlier in the day with the aim of rendering the visit a success, Shoukry asserted.
