President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting on Sunday with minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa to review the strategy of promoting the understanding of the upright teachings of Islam.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said the minister reviewed during the meeting his ministry's plan in the field of Islamic Daawa (call) and preparing Imams to convey to the world the correct image of Islam, as well as the importance of using foreign languages and modern communication channels in the Islamic call.
The minister stressed the importance of spreading the moderate teachings of Islam and correcting the misunderstanding about the religion, said the spokesman, adding that president Sisi stressed his support for the ministry's plans to prepare Imams.
The plan includes the renovation of 1300 mosques in the first stage, Yousef added.
President Sisi pointed out that the Ministry's efforts would help in discarding divisions and achieving the interests of people with putting an end to all acts of hatred, violence and extremism.
The president ordered taking measures to maintain the funds and assets of the ministry with investing them in a better way to enable the ministry to play its role in the social and humanitarian tasks, the spokesman concluded.
