Fight for Kobane claims 662 lives

Up to 662 people mostly members of the radical group, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, have been killed since flare-p of fighting for control of the northern Syrian town of Ain Al-Arab (Kobane), the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday.
The group said it documented death of 374 ISIL fighters and 258 Kurdish warriors, in addition to a number of Kurdish volunteers, who had joined the battle for defense of the town, besieged by the ISIL militants since September 16.
It reported fragile calm today in and around Kobane, scene of fierce fighting between the ISIL, a militant Islamic movement that has recently gained influence in Syria and Iraq, and Kurdish militias defending the town which they consider as a vital stronghold for them.
The two sides today traded gunfire intermittently, it said.
It reported at least 10 deaths in violence between the Syrian regime and opposition forces on other axes of the Syrian arena of military operations.
