A young Palestinian attacker died of his wounds after he was shot earlier on Wednesday by Israeli troops in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, medical officials said.
The Palestinian ministry of health said in a press statement that Mohamed al-Shoubaki, 21, died of his wounds after he was shot and critically wounded by Israeli troops' gunfire near al-Fawar refugee camp in Hebron.
Israeli public radio said that the Palestinian young man stabbed an Israeli with a knife and critically wounded him before other soldiers arrived at the scene and shot him dead.
The radio also said that earlier on Wednesday, Palestinian gunmen opened fire at an Israeli car near Hebron, adding that the car was damaged but no injuries were reported.
In another development, the Israeli army forces arrested 24 Palestinians during raids on various towns and cities in the West Bank, according to Israel radio, adding that they are wanted to the Israeli security forces.
Since early October, the Palestinian health ministry said that 98 Palestinians were killed in a flaring wave of tension and violent confrontations between Israel and the Palestinians.
In the meantime, 19 Israelis were killed in a series of shooting and stabbing attacks carried out by Palestinians in protest to the Israeli practices and measures.
