English dog breeder arrested after 2 women, 4 dogs found dead

An English dog breeder was being questioned Monday after two women and four dogs were found shot dead at his kennel, police said. The bodies were found Sunday morning at Keepers Cottage Stud in Farnham, a historic market town 35 miles west-southwest of London, Get Surrey reported. The owner of the property, identified locally as John Lowe, 82, was taken into custody for questioning. Police said at a news conference Monday that the victims were two women, one in her 60s and the other in her 40s. Investigators said they were related but would not confirm that the older woman was mother of the younger one and that they were not living at the kennels. A double-barreled shotgun, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, was found at the kennels, police said. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston suggested there are no other suspects. "We are not looking for anyone else," Preston said. "It appears to be very contained, and all the parties knew each other. The dead dogs were three German shepherds and a Labrador. Rob Jackson, an investigator with the Royal Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals, was at the kennels Monday to see to the welfare of dogs and horses there. He said he made a visit about six months ago to investigate a report of a problem of dogs with fleas.
