Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's funeral prayer will be held today

Gulf leaders have sent their condolences to Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, over the death of his brother Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Thursday (Shawwal 19, 1438 Hijri), Saudi Press Agency reported.

The former Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation Prince Abdulrahman passed away aged 86, according to the Saudi Gazette.

Funeral prayer for the prince will be held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah after the Isha (evening) prayer on Friday (Shawwal 20), the Royal Court said in a statement.

May God Almighty bestow his mercy upon his soul, the statement added.
UAE

President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a cable of condolence to King Salman.

In his cable, Sheikh Khalifa prayed to Allah Almighty to bestow his mercy upon the soul of the prince and grant him paradise.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also sent their condolences.
Bahrain

Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, and Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa also condoled the prince's death.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, also received similar cables from Bahrain's leaders.
Kuwait

The Custodian of Two Holy Mosques received cables of condolence from Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, on the sad demise of the prince.

Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, and Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait, also condoled with the King.
Palestine

President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine expressed his condolences on the demise over a telephone call.
Profile

Born in 1931 in Riyadh, Prince Abdulrahman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and then graduated from the California Military Academy, according to the Saudi Gazette.

He was the adviser for the Royal Family Affairs in the mid-1970s. He had served as deputy minister of defence and aviation from 1978 until 2011.
