Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Director of Sports Affairs Committee Khaleel Al Jaber has praised Qatari athletes for their excellent show at the 30th edition of the Olympics currently in progress in London. In a media statement Al Jaber said, Qatar\'s sportspersons have done the country proud with their fine performances against highly skilled and experienced competitors. He made a special mention of Qatar\'s medal winners, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah who won the bronze medal in Skeet Shooting event against seasoned rivals, and Mutaz Essa Barshim who also a bronze medal in the men\'s high jump final at the Olympic Stadium last night. The podium finishes and the much-improved performances of the other athletes reaffirms Qatar\'s commitment to encourage sports at all levels. Qatar\'s success has been due to the support and guidance given by the leadership to the QOC and all sportspersons, he said. Al Jaber expressed his appreciation and gratitude to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who as the Chairman of QOC has been the inspiration and guide for the development of sport in Qatar. He added that the direct guidance of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has had a significant impact on the achievements made by the Qatari mission in London. He stressed Qatar\'s fine performance did not happen by chance, but due to the dedication and concerted efforts of all national federations, administrators and sportspersons. Al Jaber also mentioned the key role played by QOC Secretary General HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani who has been focused in raising the bar of Qatari sportspersons by encouraging to perfect their performing skills by participating in key national and international tournaments. The Sports Affairs Director also praised the Qatari media as well as Qatar Shooting Federation chief Mohammed Ali Al Ghanim and the Qatar Athletics Federation headed by Abdullah Zaini and added, in conclusion, that Qatar is moving in the right direction to fulfill its sports goals.
