Dodgers\' Jansen undergoes heart surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Kenley Jansen has undergone surgery to correct an irregular heartbeat, the team said Tuesday. Jansen underwent the ablation surgery at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles after landing on the disabled list with the problem in each of the past two seasons. The Dodgers said the 3-hour procedure involved cauterizing abnormal tissue in Jansen\'s heart, adding it is now beating in normal rhythm. The right-hander will be placed on blood-thinning medication for three months and should be able to throw and work out without restrictions over the winter with a full recovery expected by spring training. He is scheduled to be discharged from the hospital Wednesday. Jansen served as the Dodgers\' closer for most of this past season, racking up 25 saves in 65 appearances with a 2.35 ERA.
