Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, yesterday issued a resolution approving regulations for sport institutions and clubs in Dubai. The bylaw has been designed to implement Law No 11 of 2009, which was issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to keep abreast with the new requirements and developments in the sports sector. Resolution No 8 of 2012 includes 15 articles that cover all aspects of work in institutions and clubs, starting from setting up the board of directors and their tenure and duties, the function of the executive administration of clubs, and list of regulations for technical, administrative and financial operations. Article No 6 of the resolution stipulates that the board will consist of a chairman and seven members, which are appointed by the club president in coordination with Dubai Sports Council.The board\'s first meeting will elect a deputy chairman, secretary-general, financial director, and any other positions required to facilitate the board\'s operations. Drawing up policies The regulations state that the board will have a four-year tenure applicable for renewal by the club president. Boards are tasked with drawing up general policies, plans, strategic objectives for developing the club, approving systems and regulations and necessary programmes for developing the club. They will then forward them to the club president for final approval. The club president will also approve the club\'s operating budget in accordance with the financial requirements of the club or institution that ensure the ideal utilisation of available resources.
