3.4 quake rattles Dallas area

An earthquake that shook the Irving, Texas, area Saturday night was measured at 3.4-magnitude by the U.S. Geological Survey. The minor temblor, centered about 2 miles north of Irving and about 3 miles deep, was felt by people throughout the vicinity, The Dallas Morning News reported. \"It shook real good and opened my metal filing cabinet drawers,\" Matt Blackman, who lives about a mile from the epicenter, told the newspaper. \"A few minutes later we had an aftershock. I first thought a plane crashed because they fly right by here on the east-west runway. Never felt an earthquake before.\" Dallas-Fort Worth airport spokesman David Magana said the quake was felt at there, but no problems were reported. Irving fire dispatchers said many people called in to ask what had happened. \"It seemed like it was quick,\" said Steven Gray of Las Colinas. \"There was a small rumble, followed by a really hard shake.\"
