5.6-magnitude quake hits SW Pakistan

An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Pakistan\'s southwestern town of Dalbandin on Sunday, local meteorological department said. According to the report, the quake was felt at 11:08 a.m. ( local time) in Dalbandin area, a sparsely-populated town located in the country\'s southwestern province of Balochistan. The epicenter of the earthquake rested at 230 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of Quetta at a depth of 124 kilometers. The quake created panic among people, but no loss of life or property was reported, according to the initial reports. Dalbandin lies in the earthquake-prone zone of the country. In January 2011, an earthquake measuring 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the area in which several people died from panic.
