A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern China Sunday, killing at least two people and leaving 100 people injured, officials said. The quake hit Ninglang county in Yunnan province and neighboring Yanyuan county in Sichuan province, Xinhua News Agency reported. The quake hit at 3:59 p.m. local time and was followed, 2 minutes later, by a 3.3-magnitude aftershock. Relief supplies, including 300 tents and 500 quilts, were sent to the border region that is home to the Yi ethnic group, the state-run news agency said. Officials said injuries and property losses were still being determined.
