An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted Banda Sea, the U.S. Geological Survey ( USGS) said on Monday. The tremor occurred at around 1:53 a.m. local time Tuesday ( 1653 GMT Monday), with a depth of 157.7 km. The epicenter was located some 236 km northwest from Saumlaki, Indonesia and 520 km east-northeast from Dili, East Timor, the USGS said on its website. So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
