An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted southwestern Mexico Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The focus of the quake, which occurred 1123 GMT, was initially determined at 17 km southwest of Mazatan, a city in the southwestern Mexican state of Chiapas, with a depth of 76 km.
