The 15th African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), held on March 2-6 in Cairo, has issued the "Cairo Declaration" to reiterate Africa's commitment to reaching an obligatory agreement on climate change, Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy said.
The African environment ministers' recommendations, embodied in the Declaration, also shed light on the need to improve abundant natural resources in Africa and integrate green economy into development plans, he said.
The Declaration also covers a wide range of priorities in the continent, including climate change, green economy and sustainable development, Fahmy, who was the event's chairman, has said.
The African ministers also said they are looking forward to holding the talks in Paris under the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in December.
