China to build power plants in Yemen

The Yemeni Ministry of Electricity signed an agreement on Sunday with the China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation to build three gas-fired power-generating plants in the governorates of Hodaida, Shabwa and Dumar. The agreement provides also for setting up transformers and gas transport pipelines from Safer in the governorate of Maareb to Hodaida and Dumar. A third party will conduct a feasibility study to the projects which will provide 400 to 750 megawatt of electricity.
