The cold front that has swept central and eastern China on Tuesday will continue to move eastward, bringing strong winds and dragging temperatures down along the way, said the National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Wednesday. The NMC has issued a blue-coded alert for the cold spell. Most regions in northern China, central and eastern China will see strong winds and plunging temperatures over the coming three days, according to the NMC. Strong northerly winds of level four to six will blow across northeast China, most parts of north China, the areas between the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers and the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, dragging temperatures down by six to eight degrees Celsius, the NMC said. Temperatures in some areas in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, most parts of northeast China and north China will drop by as much as 14 degrees Celsius, according to the NMC. The NMC forecast that strong northerly winds of level seven to nine will hit coastal regions in northern and southern China starting Friday, warning people working at sea to be alert. Meanwhile, the NMC said rain will sweep most parts of central and eastern China.
