A cold snap in Europe that has killed hundreds - most of them homeless - continued on Saturday. In Romania, tens of thousands were stranded in over 70 villages, and many were living without access to food, water and medicines. Sub-zero temperatures also persisted across Germany. In the northern port city of Hamburg, tens of thousands crowded onto the frozen Alster lake in the city center to celebrate the first traditional \"Ice Delight\" Festival in 15 years. Meanwhile, cold has struck especially hard for those who lost homes in an earthquake in eastern Turkey several months back. Turkey has moved about 134,000 people into temporary housing, but around 7,500 more are trying to ride-out the winter in tents. And in the United Kingdom, Chesham in Buckinghamshire is seeing temperatures as low as 18 degrees below.
