Emergency warning issued for bushfires in Australia\'s Queensland

An emergency warning has been issued Saturday night for the bushfires burning on North Stradbroke Island in Australia's State of Queensland. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) warned that conditions on the island would be very hot and windy during the night, and the fire is moving rapidly and currently out of control. Power, water and mobile phone supplies may be lost in the area overnight, according to the QFES. Residents have been urged to leave their homes if they were able, as the QFES said, "Leaving is the safest option for survival. " "Multiple fire crews are working to contain the blaze but firefighters will not be able to protect every affected property and residents should not expect a firefighter at their door," the QFES said in a statement. At present, a total of 50 firefighters are still battling against the fires on the Island, with helicopters on standby to dump water bomb. The bushfires have been burning on the island for a week and resulted in an evacuation of about 900 campers on Wednesday.
