Al Ain - Arabstoday
With an early morning fog alert, forecasters have warned motorists to drive carefully in some internal and coastal areas this morning. The weather has been a mixed bag so far this month as there was initially a summer-like feel last week, then cooler winds took hold of the reins again and now humidity and fog have arrived. Forecasters described the phenomenon as unusual but attributed it to a bad weather system that recently hit eastern Saudi Arabia. The system also pushed in cold north-westerly winds and there was some rain on UAE islands such as Abu Al Bukhoosh where some 13.2mm rain was recorded, and light showers in Ras Al Khaimah a couple of days ago. Strong and cooler winds also kicked up dust and sand in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the weather will be fair to partly cloudy in general across the UAE. Winds could blow up dust and sand at times during the day. The centre expects an increase in humidity tonight and early tomorrow morning with a chance of mist or fog in some internal and coastal areas. This could reduce visibility at times on some highways and roads. The sea will continue to be rough until at least Thursday morning.
