Hottest January sixth ever recorded in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is experiencing its hottest January 6th ever recorded, weather forecasters Meteo Consult and Weeronline said Monday. The relatively warm weather is due to strong southwesterly winds from southwestern Europe and will be coupled with showers all week, weather forecasters say. Temperatures are expected to remain relatively high in the coming week. The warmest Jan. 6 on record dates from 1999, when the temperature reached 13.1 degrees Celsius at the De Bilt weather station near Hilversum. Friday was the warmest Jan. 3 on record. Normally, the average temperature in January is around 5 degrees Celsius.
