Incheon wetlands make Ramsar list of international importance

Wetlands in South Korea's western port city of Incheon have gained international recognition for their importance in protecting local species from extinction, the city government here said Tuesday.
According to the city of Incheon, a total of 6.11 square-kilometers of wetlands in the city's business district of Songdo made the list of "wetlands of international importance" managed by the Ramsar Convention, an intergovernmental treaty established in 1971 to protect these unique coastal deposits.
