Japan offers to help India fight flood

 Japan has offered to help India fight against flood in several states in which over 100 have died, local media reported on Wednesday.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has written to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed Japan's readiness to provide assistance to tackle the flood, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida has also written to his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on the same lines, the report quoted a Japanese embassy statement as saying.

Both Abe and Kishida wrote to "extend condolences to the affected people and wishes for rapid recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas and convey Japan's readiness to provide assistance upon a request from the government of India", the statement said.

Over 100 have died in flood and its related incidents in India, mostly in the eastern state of West Bengal, where 85 have died, according to local media reports.
