An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale rocked West of Indonesia\'s Maluku early Sunday with its epicenter 52 km northeast of Ambon, capital of Maluku province. The quake happened at 3.60 degrees south latitude and 128.68 degrees east longitude at the depth of 417 km and did not have potential to trigger tsunami, data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said. According to (Antara) news agency, the quake was centered 62 km southeast of Seram, West of Maluku, 75 km southwest of Central Maluku and 2,448 km northeast of Jakarta. On Thursday night (March 15), an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale also rocked Maluku Barat district, but it caused no damage.
