Sydney\'s Taronga Zoo has a new silverback gorilla. Kibali is a western lowland gorilla, and he\'s been brought in from France to breed with the females in Taronga\'s colony. The 11-year-old primate was selected for his genes and calm personality, and is expected to fit in easily with the Sydney colony. \"He\'s a very gentle gorilla and has a really calm nature,\" primate manager Lou Grossfeldt said. \"In years to come I think he\'ll be an exceptional leader.\" Gorillas can weigh up to 270kg in captivity, but there are fewer than 100,000 western lowland gorillas left in the wild.
