Powerful quake hits near Crete

An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude struck on Saturday west of the Greek island of Crete, the fifth-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. US Geological Survey said the epicentre of the tremor was 40 kilometres under the sea. The earthquake was also felt in capital Athens and Egyptian capital Cairo, officials said, while there was no loss of life and property.
