A powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region at 18:47 Beijing Time on Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The epicenter was determined at 35.9 degrees north latitude and 82.5 degrees east longitude. The earthquake was followed by two aftershocks, measuring 4.8 and 3.0 on the Richter scale and at 18:49 and 18:53 Beijing Time respectively, according to (China Daily).
