Quake measuring 6.5 detected in Indonesia, but no damage

An earthquake with a magnitude 6.5 occurred Sunday in eastern Indonesia but apparently did not cause much damage, officials said. The quake was detected by the U.S. Geological Survey, which pegged the epicenter at 254 miles east-northeast of Atambua and at a relatively deep 132 kilometers (82 miles) below the surface of the Earth. \"The center of the quake was too deep that the shakes could not be felt,\" an official with the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency told China\'s Xinhua news agency. The agency measured the quake at magnitude 6.6.
