A fatal car crash in Maine could be a dark forecast for residents of the northeastern United States preparing for freezing rain and snow, weather experts say. A storm moving through the Great Lakes may bring high winds and large hail to a large swath of the eastern United States from Boston to Miami, CNN reported Friday. La Guardia and Kennedy airports in New York and Newark in New Jersey were already experiencing delays at 6 p.m. Friday, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Early Friday, an SUV driver was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on a snow-covered Maine road and slammed into a semi-trailer, the Lincoln County sheriff's office said. Some 1 to 2 inches of snow are expected to impact the East Coast by late Sunday, Accuweather reported. The long thin band stretching from the Ohio Valley to the central Appalachians will also affect part of the mid-Atlantic and southern New England states. People in that region should expect at least a couple of days of delays and disruption, the report said.
