
Thousands of Sudanese have started to be evacuated from 31 islands on Nile River due to the heavy floods in the region. One of the biggest islands has been totally evacuated, said Abu Hamad Mayor Tariq Farah. Stating that there were 10 thousand residences across the 31 islands, Farah said all the victims would be transferred to safe regions. Heavy rain and floods around Nile River since late July killed 53 and made 20 thousand houses unavailable also damaging 251 public buildings including schools, said Sudanese interior minister.
