Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region had 345 days of excellent or good air quality last year, said the regional government on Wednesday.
The air quality continued to be good in the Mount Qomolangma area in 2013, said the environment communique issued by the Tibet Environmental Protection Department.
The water quality of major rivers and lakes in Tibet was good and met the national standards, said Zhuang Hongxiang, deputy head of the department.
Tibet had 85 million hectares of pasturing lands, 14.7 million hectares of forests and 6.5 million hectares of wetlands last year, according to the communique.
Tibet's forest coverage is around 12 percent while wetlands account for 5.3 percent of the region's total area.
Last year, Tibet invested 776 million yuan (125 million U.S. dollars) in environment protection projects and raised 3.7 billion yuan in ecological compensation funds.
