Up to 20 nuclear power plants operational in India

India said that 20 nuclear power reactors are currently operational in the whole country even as the seven nuclear power plants are at various stages of construction. The Minister of State for Prime Ministers Office, V.Narayansamy, said Friday that the 20 nuclear power reactors have the total installed generation capacity of 4780 MW. Apart from this, the minister said India is building seven nuclear power reactors which are at various stages of construction. He said the implementation of the proposed nuclear power projects are in line with Five Year Plan proposals.
