Severe storms that spawned tornadoes hit the U.S. Southeast Wednesday night, killing at least four people and injuring dozens, authorities said.An apparent twister was blamed for killing three people in a rural community about 5 miles from Rock Hill, S.C., The (Charleston) Post and Courier reported.Five people were injured and several homes were damaged or destroyed about 6 p.m., York County sheriff\'s Lt. Mike Baker told the newspaper.The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported a man died Wednesday afternoon when a pine tree fell on a sport utility vehicle in Georgia\'s Forsyth County.There may have been a fifth fatality in North Carolina. The Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal reported Gov. Bev Perdue said in a statement one person died when tornadoes touched down.\"We have reports that tornadoes touched down in Randolph and Davidson counties this evening, causing a fatality in Davidson,\" Perdue said in a release.However, Lt. Alton Hanes of Davidson County Emergency Medical Services said officials had not yet confirmed whether the fatality was storm-related to the storm.Eight to 10 people were injured and at least 30 structures were damaged in the area.WDAM-TV, Hattiesburg, Miss., reported EF 2 tornadoes moved through the region early Wednesday, injuring 15 people, with Jones County apparently the hardest-hit.Nearly three dozen buildings were damaged.
