Wind storm leaves 100k people in France without power

Nearly 100,000 people in northwest France were without power following a wind storm that downed trees and drenched the region in rain, officials said. The Brittany region was hardest hit, with nearly half of all residents in the area without electricity Saturday. Wind gusts as strong as 93 mph were recorded, downing trees and power lines, Radio France Internationale said. Soaking rain prompted flooding in the town of Quimperle, where a creek washed 15 inches over its bank, officials said. Trains and flights throughout the region were canceled or delayed due to the storm.
