Audit Bureau President Mustafa Barari said Sunday that adherence to professional ethical standards would improve Public Sector performance and quality of service to citizens.
Opening a workshop about professional and ethical rules in the civil service, Barari said a public sector employee had to live up to "professional ethics and carry out his tasks in an honest, responsible and neutral fashion to raise the level of performance in various public entities".
The three-day workshop, which drew more than 80 participants from various public departments, will discuss a host of topics including ethical and professional standards in the civil service and their impact on the employees to whom the ethical professional code applies as well as the penalties involved in failure to observe its provisions.
Barari urged civil service staff to improve their capacity and seek to update their skills and submit proposals to elevate work methods to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
