Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng hailed Saturday in Algiers the “significant” development achieved by Algeria in 52 years of independence.
In a statement to the press upon his arrival in Houari Boumediene International Airport, Yu Zhengsheng hailed the significant development achieved by the country during the last fifty years, adding that “Algeria is an old friend of Chinese people.”
Yu Zhengsheng emphasized Algeria’s efforts as part of the United Nations and its support to China to regain its seat in this organization, underlining that “these efforts were made under the leadership of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika who was Minister of Foreign Affairs at that time.”
He also said that his visit aims at “strengthening the friendship and cooperation relations between the two States and peoples and exploring new cooperation opportunities.”
“During the past sixty years, the two countries supported each other and Algeria continued to provide its important support to China to regain its legitimate seat in the United Nations,” said the Chinese official, adding that “it was a position that the Chinese people will not forget.”
