Namibia's Ministry of Education and the Chinese Embassy marked the beginning of the construction of Otjomuise Vision School, a China-aided school here on Thursday.
Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Xin Shunkang said that the Otjomuise Vision School Project is an important project supported by the Chinese Government.
"It is another symbol of the all-weather friendship between China and Namibia. I hope that this school can definitely benefit Namibian children, the construction can bring more employment to the local people, and more projects about education can be promoted and implemented," said Xin.
The Ministry of Education received a grant from China for the construction and development of the Otjomuise Vision School in the Khomasdal Constituency. This state-of-the-art vision school will cater for Grades 8 to 12, and will have the capacity to accommodate 800 learners.
"The grant... allocated towards the development of this vision school is considered as one of the largest ever Chinese grants for Namibia's formal education fraternity," said Minister of Education David Namwandi.
The school will be equipped with classrooms, sport facilities, a multipurpose hall, care-taker's house, a three-story hostel, supervisory teachers' housing, laboratories, specialized classrooms, an athletics track around on the premises and a pavilion.
The development and construction of the Otjomuise Vision School culminates from a bilateral agreement signed between China and Namibia.
