
Tokyo stocks plunged 2.03 percent Tuesday on profit taking after the previous day's nearly 4-percent gain.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 306.95 points, from Monday at 14,804.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 18.98 points, or 1.55 percent, lower at 1,205.36.
Decliners were led by machinery, pulp and paper and mining issues.
The turnover was 2,041.2 billion yen (19.15 billion U.S. dollars).
