The unemployment rate in Turkey rose to 10.9 percent in December 2014, the highest of the last four years, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.
The increase in the unemployment rate was caused by the slowdown of Turkey's economic growth which would be announced at around 3 percent in 2014, local media said.
A total of 3.145 million people were unemployed in December 2014, with an increase of 563,000 compared to the same period of 2013.
The unemployment rate of the 15-24 age group was 20.2 percent, while 11.2 percent for the 15-64 age group.
