Vietnamese police handed China 18 suspects allegedly involved in three separate tele-marketing fraud cases in Vietnam, local police said Saturday.
Police in Vietnam busted the tele-marketing scam in Hai Phong City on Tuesday, with a large number of incriminating equipment and evidence seized, said police authorities in Dongxing, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The suspects, escorted to Dongxing on Thursday afternoon, have been delivered to police in Beijing, who have been investigating the scams.
Dongxing, which is under the jurisdiction of Guangxi's Fangchenggang City, is located on the China-Vietnam border and is adjacent to the Vietnamese city of Mong Cai.
In an attempt to ramp up security, police in Dongxing and their international colleagues in Mong Cai have initiated cooperation to handle cross-border crimes. Last month, Dongxing police returned Vietnam a 13-year-old girl abducted and taken to north China's Hebei Province.
