Positive trading at JSE on Tuesday

The market performance at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has been on a positive note Tuesday, with the rand maintaining its rise.

The rand started the day at R14.72 against the U.S. dollar, which is 1.51% gain from the Monday closing. It ended the day still on the positive by 1.65% at 14.70.

The All Share index kicked off the day on the positive by 0.01% at 51,431.63, with Resources also stronger by 1.96% at 29,143.00.

Commodities, however, started the day with mixed reactions Tuesday.

Oil started the day with a 0.07% gain at 42.84 per barrel. Platinum maintained the Monday rise firming by 0.30% at 993.00 per ounce. In the morning, gold had lost its Monday steam by 0.12% at 1256.35 while silver also started the day down by 0.13% at 15.92.

There was, however, more good news when the market closed on Tuesday.

All major equities closed the day on a positive note. All Share was up by 1.23% at 52,059.76 while the Top 40 also closed up by 1.21% at 45,751.08.

Financials were also up by 1.15% at 15,271.68, while Resources scored it big by 3.58% at 29,606.21. And Industrials also closed stronger by 0.60% at 70,169.47.
